FILE – International Electronic Language Festival – celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2019. Showcasing what is innovative in art and technology is the festival’s main trademark. Quality and commitment to offering the Brazilian public access to what is being produced at the cutting edge of electronic art have been FILE’s mission in these 20 years of history.

Since the 20th century, artistic research has sought innovative forms of expression. From the point of view of artistic production, through the interdisciplinary relationship between the arts and technology, effective achievements have transformed the creative process and the way works of art are exhibited, whether in the relationship between the work and the public or between the public and the exhibition space. Electronic art has developed and has played a fundamental role in the contemporary world, as it seeks to develop projects that consider not only technological innovations, but above all the diversity of new behaviors incorporated into today’s society.

The FILE 2019 exhibition, in addition to celebrating its own history, has the honor of paying homage to two innovative icons in the history of art who are also celebrating their birthdays this year: Leonardo da Vinci’s 500th birthday and Bauhaus’s 100th birthday. Visitors will be able to enjoy a variety of aspects of art and technology in several works that use electronic language, revealed in modalities that vary between interactive installations, games, animation, GIFs and video art. Innovative aesthetic projects that establish, with creative power, new spaces for living and aesthetic perspective.

As a milestone on this path, FILE offers the public the exhibition 20 years of FILE, 20 years of art and technology and invites visitors to a poetic immersion in new technologies.
